GTX 1060 Mining Overall Scores:

  • Mining Performance: 4/5
  • Power Consumption: 5/5
  • Cooling: 4.5/5
  • Price/Performance: 4/5

If you want to mine Ethereum, we suggest the Radeon R9 295X2. It’s the best Ethereum miner on the market!

GTX 1060 6GB Hashrate: Ethereum

Unfortunately the 3GB version of the GTX 1060 is no longer able to mine Ethereum as it doesn’t have enough dedicated VRAM.

On the other hand, the 6GB is still going strong, yielding a handsome return on investment. We’re going to be taking a look at the GTX 1060 hashrate of the 6GB model with both stock and overclocked frequencies.

Stock VS. Overclocked Frequencies

The GTX 1060 achieves a hashrate of around 19 MH/s at stock settings, drawing around 100 W from the wall. This yields a return of around $650 per year.

Not bad.

Fortunately the overclocking potential of this card is phenomenal. We’ve seen this card overclock all the way up to around 25 MH/s drawing 120 W from the wall.

This power consumption/hashrate ratio yields an annual return of nearly $900. Check it out:

Of course, there is better Ethereum mining hardware out there. The R9 295X2 yields nearly $1,500 a year!

GTX 1060 6GB Hashrate: Zcash

This card is also great for Zcash mining. Currently you’ll see a better return from Ethereum mining, but this is subject to change as prices fluctuate.

Stock VS. Overclocked Frequencies

The GTX 1060 proves itself once again when overclocked, hashing at 320 Sol/s and drawing **100 W from the wall with an 85% power limit. With the stock settings you can expect a hashrate just shy of 300, sitting at 295 Sol/s and drawing 130 W from the wall.

Take a look at your projected earnings:

$678 annually per card is pretty good considering the initial investment. Still, Ethereum mining is more profitable. You can increase your profits with a mining rig.

Zcash Mining Conclusion

With a handsome return on investment, this card isn’t a bad choice for cryptocurrency mining. Although, there are better options out there.

We’d only recommend using this GPU for mining if it’s already in your system at home. If you’re looking to mine for serious profit, check out some of the hardware in the table below.

Mining Rigs

A cryptocurrency mining rig is a great way to maximize your profits. The power of 6 mining GPUs is 6X more powerful than one mining GPU!

You can find mining rigs on eBay for a great price. As mentioned previously, they’re the best way to maximize your income.

Proof-of-work is the method used to mine Ethereum, Zcash, and just about every other minable cryptocurrency including Bitcoin. Essentialy your mining hardware is cycling through every every single possible solution until the correct solution is eventually found. Finding this value is next to impossible. However, once the value is found the miner is rewarded with Ether.

That being said, the more powerful your mining hardware is the more likely you are to successfully mine Ether, and in turn generate a profit. If you use one of the three GPUs mentioned above, you’re off to a good start.

A mining rig is a configuration of two or more mining GPUs. In most cases a rig consists of four or more GPUs. Obviously they’re more expensive than one GPU, but they also have far superior hashing power. At the end of the day, they’re well worth the investment. Sometimes, it’s better to buy a few cheaper, less powerful GPUs. For example, the GTX 1050 Ti doesn’t have a very high hashrate. However, it doesn’t consume much power either. In fact, four 1050 Ti’s is the same price as one R9 295X2 and they have a higher profit ratio.
